SGT University unfurled its 15 days Transitional Curriculum Program – AYURKSHITIJA

Faculty of Indian Medical System, SGT University unfurled its 15 days Transitional Curriculum Program – AYURKSHITIJA today.

The events for the upcoming 15 days are based on the guidelines of National Commission for Indian Medicine. The commission believes that the students getting admitted to the Ayurveda graduate course (B.A.M.S) are from different backgrounds, different regions have different cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Their educational qualifying qualifications are also from diversified curriculums, i.e., state syllabus, CBSE, ICSE etc. studied in different mediums of language. Since, Ayurveda is a unique medical system with subjects and terminologies that are different and typical hence, there is a need to transit students of diversified backgrounds to the unique Ayurveda Medical Science owning to which a trans disciplinary curriculum was designed and mandatorily implemented by the National commission.

Prof. (Dr.) Prasanna V. Savanur, Dean FIMS, SGT University highlighted the details of the event and importance of introduction of transitional curriculum program for the newly admitted students. Dr. Savanur highlighted the importance of Sanskrit for Ayurveda Scholars which is included in this transitional curriculum program.

The newly admitted students were welcomed by their seniors with tilak and best wishes. FIMS initiated the Day 1 of its transitional curriculum program by seeking the blessings of Lord Dhanwantari through Vandna by Ms. Tanvi & Ms. Srishti and lamp lightening by the dignitaries, Prof. (Dr.) Pankaja Savanur, Prof. (Dr.) Jyoti Kumbar & newly admitted Students. Prof. (Dr.) Jyoti Kumbar, Prof.  & Head, Dept. of Stri Rog evum Prasuti Tantra, FIMS, SGT University addressed the newly admitted students with her welcome speech and motivational words. Dr. Vineeth George, Class coordinator of BAMS First year, guided the students regarding “Transitional curriculum” programme. Afterwards Pre-Transitional Curriculum Assessment was done by IT team, FIMS in the form of questionnaire which was regarding the general knowledge about Ayurveda. This was followed by students interactive session under the supervision of Dr. Preeti Dabral. The post lunch session was conducted by Dr. Anupam Sharma on the topic “Overview of BAMS Curriculum and the subjects” to make students familiar with their subjects, teachers and syllabus.
