Samskrit Day 2021

World Samskrit Dinam/Day falls on Shravan Purnima & Samskrit Saptah/Week is celebrated every year three days before and after the Shravana purnima. Board of Ayurveda, NCISM took this initiative to celebrate Sanskrit Week/Sanskrit day through Sanskrit Evam Samhita Siddhanta department at the Ayurveda Institutions as a regular Departmental activity every year.

Department of Ayurveda Samhita & Siddhant, Faculty of Indian Medical System, SGT University celebrated Samskrit Day on 25.08.2021 through a webinar on “Relevance of Samskrit in Ayurved”.

The Event was Graced by the esteemed presence of Prof. (Dr.) Baldev Kumar, Honourable Vice Chancellor, Shri Krishna AYUSH University, Haryana & Prof. (Dr.) Jyoti Kumbar, Dean, FIMS, SGT University. The event started by seeking the blessings of Lord Dhanvantri through Dhanvantri Vandna by Mr. Pratap Chand, Assistant Professor (Samskrit), Dept. of Ayurveda Samhita & Siddhant, FIMS, SGT University who welcomed the dignitaries and presented the theme of the webinar. The session was moderated by Dr. Konica Gera, Asst. Prof., Dept. of Ayurveda Samhita Siddhant, SGT University.

Prof. (Dr.) Baldev Kumar highlighted the importance of learning & teaching of Samskrit to the participants through various examples from the texts of Ayurveda. Being a learned scholar of Samskrit along with Ayurveda, he emphasised on the aspects of Samskrit grammar which are most relevant for decoding the texts of Ayurveda and the applicability of Chand Shastra in memorizing the lyrical texts in his Presidential Address.

Dr. Vikas Bhardwaj, Associate Professor in the Department of Samhita Siddhant and Sanskrit at Saraswati Ayurveda Hospital & Medical College Mohali, Punjab shared his valuable knowledge with the participants and highlighted Samskrit as a scientific language which is ideal for the computer science. He also sensitized the participants with a Crisp Samskrit fact check by elucidating the global admiration for the language.

The webinar received an overwhelming support from participants from various Government & Private U.G., P.G., Ph.D. scholars & Faculty members as well. There were more than 300 registrations which included participants beyond the borders of the Nation.

The session was followed by remarks by Prof. (Dr.) Jyoti Kumbar, Dean FIMS, SGT University & Vote of thanks by Dr. Chhavi Mahajan, Assistant Professor, Department of Ayurveda Samhita & Siddhant, FIMS, SGT University.
